I’m finally opening up guest post opportunities on the blog and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s been on my mind for ages, and I’m so happy to make it happen at last.
I’m really looking forward to hearing from so many of you, and seeing a flood of pitches, fresh perspectives, and creative ideas coming my way.
If you have something bookish you’re bursting to share, this is your invitation to go for it! I’d love to help amplify your voice and feature your writing on the blog.
And, if you’re a new writer hoping to get your words out into the world, someone who already blogs about books, or a passionate reader who has a story, opinion, or insight to share, this is your chance to join in.
I want to build a community of book lovers with different backgrounds, tastes, and experiences, all coming together to celebrate the magic of reading.
Here’s the Kind of Content I’m Looking For:
- Book Reviews: Share thoughtful, honest reviews of books you’ve read. You can focus on new releases, backlist titles, or even lesser-known gems. Feel free to talk about what you loved, what you didn’t, and who you’d recommend the book to. I love conversational reviews where you’re essentially ranting.
- Author Interviews: Have you connected with an author? Or maybe you’d like to pitch an interview idea? I’d love to see Q&As that dig deeper into their inspiration, writing process, and upcoming work.
- Reading Lists: Curated lists are always a hit! Think of lists on the blog like 15 Summer Beach Reads, Top 20+ Dark Academia Books, 25+ Cozy Mystery Books for Everyone, or 10 Grumpy and Sunshine Romance Books. Be as creative as you’d like with the theme – readers love discovering new books.
- Bookish Opinion Pieces: Want to share your thoughts on a trend, issue, or debate in the book world? You might write about why romance deserves more respect, how book banning affects readers, or whether e-books are really better than print. Bold, thoughtful takes are welcome!
- Reading Tips & Habits: Advice on how to read more, balance reading with a busy schedule, choose books intentionally, or track your reading goals. People love practical, friendly tips to build a better reading life.
- Literary Discussions: Deep dives into topics that matter to readers – what makes a classic endure, why diverse voices matter, how plot structures have evolved over time, or how books shape our worldview – are welcome here!
- Bookish Lifestyle: If you love cozy reading nooks, book-themed décor, reading retreat ideas, or even bookshelf styling, this is the perfect space to share.
- Book Adaptations: Share your thoughts on book-to-screen adaptations. Did the movie do justice to the book? Are there books you think should be adapted next?
- Reading Challenges: Create or review reading challenges to help people expand their reading horizons.
- Library & Bookstore Spotlights: Share a feature about a local library or an indie bookstore you love, especially if you can highlight their history, mission, or community impact.
- Guest Essays: If you have a personal story connected to reading – maybe a book that changed your life, or how you rediscovered reading after a break, I’d love to hear it.
Even if you see a similar topic already on the blog, don’t worry. If you can bring a fresh, unique angle or your own personal spin to it, regardless of whether or not it falls in any of the categories above, I’m absolutely open to hearing your idea.
Before you pitch or send your draft, please check out the blog to get a feel for the categories and style. I want your piece to fit naturally into the blog’s vibe and be something my readers will connect with.
Submission Guidelines
- Original work only. It must be 100% original, unpublished anywhere else (including your own blog or Medium), and written entirely by you. No AI-generated or AI-assisted content is allowed. All submissions will be checked for plagiarism.
- Post length: minimum 1000 words. You can go longer if you like!
- Please send your pitch first (not a full draft) to hello@therookiejurist.com or use the contact form below. I’ll reply within 24 hours to let you know if it’s accepted. Once approved, you have 5 days to deliver the final draft. If you can’t deliver on time, please let me know so you don’t hold up the publication schedule.
- I accept Google Docs or Word files. If you have headings, bold text, or links, format them clearly.
- No need to include images for list posts – I will source those myself. For other types of posts, you can suggest images if you like, but only royalty-free or personally-owned images with clear permission.
- You may include up to 2 self-promotional links in your author bio. No affiliate links, spammy backlinks, or commercial promotions in the post itself, please.
- I will make final edits to maintain quality and consistency with the blog’s tone and style. Light or heavy edits may happen, but I’ll always preserve your voice and core message.
- If your draft needs changes, I’ll let you know and request revisions. If it’s not workable, I reserve the right to decline publishing.
- Timeline:
- Pitch reviewed in 24 hours
- 5days to deliver the draft
- 7 days from submission to publication
- When the post is approved, please send me a short 2–3 sentence bio, a headshot photo, and the name you’d like to display on your author profile. Once the post is live, I will email you to confirm it’s published.
- Absolutely no hate speech, plagiarism, or discrimination. I reserve the right to refuse any post that goes against the blog’s values.
