In my very humble opinion, the only thing that can make a suspense book even more terrifying is if it has a supernatural element.
I’m talking about malevolent spirits, mysterious disappearances, or anything that hints at otherworldly forces behind the mystery.
In this list, I’ve included some of my personal favorite supernatural mystery books that I think everyone needs to read.
These books are downright scary but also so much fun, and I believe anyone who loves a good thrill will enjoy them!
The Haunting on West 10th Street by Helen Phifer

Maria Miller is a tough detective, but even she gets the chills when she steps into the attic of an old brownstone.
The murder scene is brutal, but what really unnerves her is the strange presence lurking in the shadows.
Even scarier? The crime is identical to a murder from sixty years ago – a satanic ritual, missing body parts, the whole eerie deal.
Maria is determined to solve the case, but the deeper she digs, the closer evil gets to her own doorstep.
A chilling, spine-tingling mystery that’s impossible to put down, you’ll totally love this book.
Silver Nitrate by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

But strange things start happening – ghostly visions, dark figures lurking, and a creeping sense that maybe this isn’t just a wild story.
This one is a moody, cinematic supernatural thriller that blends horror and history in the best way.
The Hunter’s Daughter by Nicola Solvinic

Anna Koray is a respected sheriff’s lieutenant, but she has a secret – her father was a notorious serial killer.
