As someone who was bullied in secondary school, I generally stay away from bully romance books.
And that’s why I’m a big advocate for trigger warnings at the beginning of every book, regardless of genre.
But over the past few years, I’ve made peace with that part of my past, and I’ve already read a couple of bully romance books that I actually enjoyed.
Now, remember that many of these books deal with very heavy topics, so before you read any of them, make sure to check the trigger warnings.
I’ve read these books, and they weren’t that bad.
That’s to say, if you’ve been looking for some amazing bully romance novels to check out, you might want to give these ones a chance.
Just Drop Out by J Bree

Lips has survived a hard life – foster care, gangs, and danger.
Now she’s finally free with a scholarship to a fancy prep school. But Hannaford Prep isn’t safe either.
The most popular boys target her, and it’s brutal.
I really admired Lips’ strength here. She doesn’t break, even when things get scary.
Ash, Harley, and Blaise aren’t her friends either – they want her gone. But Lips refuses to run.
This one had me holding my breath with every page.
If you love reverse harem books where the girl is tougher than anyone expected, you’ll like this.
Thorn by Tracy Lorraine

Jake Thorn rules Rosewood High, and from the moment Amalie arrives, he hates her for no clear reason.
He’s cruel and cold, and Amalie just wants to survive.
But she’s not a weak little flower because she’s been through enough pain.
I loved how Amalie stood her ground even when Jake made things miserable.
Over time, the tension between them turns into something else, something neither expected.
It’s emotional and raw, and if you enjoy enemies-to-lovers with a heavy dose of angst, this is a good one.
Lords of Pain by Angel Lawson & Samantha Rue

Story’s past is filled with hurt and three boys who betrayed her.
Now she’s back, and those boys are powerful and dangerous.
But the danger she’s running from might be even worse.
The way the authors built tension here had me flipping pages fast.
Killian, Tristian, and Rath are dark, complicated, and intense.
Story isn’t just trying to survive – she’s trying to take control of her own story.
This book is definitely dark, but I couldn’t look away.
Maverick’s Madness by Lorrain Allen

Cocoa walks into a new school and instantly becomes Maverick’s target because of her race.
He turns people against her, but Cocoa doesn’t back down.
She’s fierce and fights every attack with her head held high.
I really felt proud of her strength.
Maverick wants to break her but he ends up being the one who cracks.
This book handles tough topics, but it also shows how strong a person can be. Cocoa made me cheer.
The Bully by Sophie Lark

Cat has a secret, and Dean knows it. Instead of helping, he uses it to control her.
He’s cold, dangerous, and so sure he owns her.
But Cat is smart, and even though she’s scared, she doesn’t give in easily.
I liked the intensity between them – it’s twisted but so addicting.
Watching Cat try to survive in a school full of dangerous people was tense, but she’s not helpless.
This one had me glued to the page.
Church by K.G. Reuss

Sirena thought going to Chapel Crest would be better than her awful home.
But this school is full of darkness too.
The four boys who rule it – the Watchers – are cruel and twisted.
Still, something about them pulls Sirena in.
This one is very dark and intense, but I couldn’t stop reading.
Sirena’s pain and strength really stood out to me.
It’s not for everyone, but if you like really dark romance, this one’s gripping.
Vicious by L.J. Shen

Ten years ago, Vicious made Emilia’s life miserable.
Now he’s back, and he wants her again. He’s mean, rich, and completely messed up but also completely fascinating.
I loved Emilia’s quiet strength and how she didn’t just melt for him.
Their past is messy, and their future is complicated, but the chemistry is wild.
This story is all about hate turning into love, and it really worked for me.
If you like complex characters, you’ll enjoy this.
Never Sweeter by Charlotte Stein

Letty is shocked to see her high school bully, Tate, at her college.
But he’s different now – gentler, sorry, and actually sweet.
She doesn’t trust him at first, and I didn’t either, but watching them grow close was heartwarming.
Tate wants to make things right, and Letty slowly lets her guard down.
This book has a beautiful second-chance vibe, and it made me smile and swoon.
It’s a soft story with a lovely message about forgiveness and change.
Hate Me by Ashley Jade

Aspen and Knox are step-siblings, but their connection is anything but friendly.
Knox is cruel, manipulative, and always in Aspen’s head.
He knows her secrets and uses them against her.
This one is dark and really emotional.
Their relationship is twisted and messy, but you can’t look away.
I felt so many emotions while reading this, and I think that’s the power of this story – it doesn’t hold back.
Definitely for readers who like things complicated.
Brutal Heir by Eden O’Neill

Greer once saw Knight do something terrible, and now she can’t escape him.
He’s a campus god – rich, arrogant, and terrifying. But Greer doesn’t stay quiet, and I admired her fire.
The push and pull between them is strong, and even though he’s awful sometimes,
I could see the pain behind his actions.
This book is all about secrets, power, and trying not to fall for the enemy.
It’s dark and emotional, but also really addictive.
