After reading Dork Diaries back when I was in primary school (or something like that), I absolutely fell in love with graphic novels.
There’s literally nothing I love more than curling up with a good graphic novel and just having the best time ever.
And 2025 has been such an amazing year for graphic novels.
We’ve gotten so many incredible new releases, and I love the fact that graphic novels are finally becoming more common on shelves.
It’s exciting to think that this will encourage more authors and illustrators to collaborate and bring even more beautiful graphic novels into the world and I honestly can’t wait to see what’s next.
Anyway, this post is a list of my favorite new graphic novels that have been released in 2025.
These are the ones that I think everyone is going to love. These books are just so good and so interesting.
I especially love that the topics they cover range from soft and sweet, to deep and reflective, to historical, and even a little scary. I genuinely love all of it and I think you will too.
Tall Water by SJ Sindu, illustrated by Dion MBD

If you love emotional stories, Tall Water is a beautiful new 2025 coming-of-age graphic novel you’ll adore.
Nimmi’s journey to Sri Lanka to find her long-lost mother during the 2004 tsunami really touched me.
The soft illustrations make the whole experience feel calming, even when the story gets intense.
Honestly, this book reminded me how impactful new YA graphic novels can be in 2025’s graphic novel boom.
It’s perfect if you’re curious about family bonds, adventure, or stories set during real-life events.
I thought Nimmi’s bravery felt so real, and her quiet hope made me think about what it means to belong.
If you’re looking for heartwarming new teen graphic novels, this one deserves a special place on your reading list.
Florrie by Anna Trench

Florrie is one of those new 2025 graphic novel releases that feels like a warm hug wrapped in history and football.
I loved how Anna Trench brought the hidden world of early women’s football to life – it’s a story that really needed telling.
Florrie’s secret love stories and friendships made me smile and cry in the same chapter.
As someone who didn’t know much about the FA’s 1921 ban, this opened my eyes.
I adored how this new LGBTQ+ graphic novel combined football, family, and queer romance.
If you’re searching for powerful new graphic novels for women’s history lovers, Florrie might be your perfect match.
It’s charming, emotional, and super uplifting.
Honestly, I think this is one of the best historical graphic novels of 2025 – both beautifully illustrated and wonderfully written.
Kirby’s Lessons for Falling (in Love) by Laura Gao

Kirby’s Lessons for Falling (in Love) is one of my favorite new slow-burn romance graphic novels of 2025.
If you love high school dramas with a twist, you’ll connect with Kirby just like I did.
Laura Gao writes such real characters – Kirby’s struggles between rock climbing, astrology, and finding love felt so honest.
I loved how this book mixes sports and romance in a fun, heartwarming way. And, the crystal-wearing friend and all the tarot card moments? So cute.
This 2025 LGBTQ+ coming-of-age graphic novel reminded me that even when life feels off-balance, you can still find love and community.
If you’re into new teen graphic novels with authentic queer stories and relatable family drama, you’ll adore this one.
It’s gentle, sweet, and quietly powerful, and that is exactly what I look for in slow-burn romance stories.
Dan in Green Gables by Rey Terciero, illustrated by Claudia Aguirre

If you love modern retellings, Dan in Green Gables is one of the warmest new LGBTQ+ graphic novels of 2025.
I was drawn in right away by Dan’s big personality and big heart. His journey from feeling abandoned to finding home in rural Tennessee felt so real and bittersweet.
This modern Anne of Green Gables retelling touched me because it’s about fitting in and being true to yourself.
I think stories like this are why the 2025 graphic novel boom is so special – queer teens need stories that reflect their struggles and joy.
The illustrations are soft and cozy, and Dan’s bravery made me cheer for him every step of the way.
If you’re looking for new graphic novels about unconventional families and finding your place, this one’s a must-read.
Fitting Indian by Jyoti Chand, illustrated by Tara Anand

I’m so glad books like Fitting Indian are part of the new graphic novel books of 2025.
Nitasha’s story felt super personal to me. Watching her struggle with school, mental health, and her strict South Asian family hit close to home.
This one is a brave, honest story about feeling not-good-enough and trying to survive it.
I think Jyoti Chand’s writing, mixed with Tara Anand’s bold illustrations, makes this one of the most important teen graphic novels released in 2025.
I appreciated how it gently talked about mental health without feeling heavy or overwhelming.
If you love new coming-of-age graphic novels with serious topics and real emotions, you’ll find comfort in Nitasha’s story.
This book shows how community, honesty, and support can truly save lives.
The History of Everything by Victoria Evans

If you’ve ever worried about losing your best friend, The History of Everything will speak to your heart.
I think Victoria Evans’ debut is one of the sweetest new YA graphic novels of 2025.
It showed how friendships sometimes shift as we grow, even when we don’t want them to.
Agnes and Daisy’s bucket list adventures made me smile, but their friendship struggles felt so real it hurt.
Honestly, this book left me thinking about my own friendships long after finishing.
It’s the perfect read for fans of new best friends graphic novels and stories about growing up.
Victoria Evans captured that bittersweet summer-before-everything-changes feeling perfectly.
If you’re looking for heartfelt new graphic novels released in 2025, this quiet, emotional story will stay with you.
This Beautiful Ridiculous City by Kay Sohini

This Beautiful Ridiculous City is honestly one of the most powerful new graphic memoirs of 2025.
Kay Sohini’s story about starting over in New York after an abusive relationship was both heartbreaking and hopeful.
I loved how this book made New York City feel magical and healing at the same time – like it could save you, even if it doesn’t love you back.
I think books like this prove why graphic novels are so special; there’s space for honest stories about survival and belonging.
Sohini’s writing felt like a friend sharing their heart, and her food-loving, writer self made me smile.
If you’re searching for new adult graphic novels that mix healing, immigration, and city life, this book is a gentle yet powerful reminder that hope can grow anywhere.
Les Normaux by Janine Janssen and S. Al Sabado

If you’re like me and adore cozy, magical love stories, Les Normaux will feel like a warm cup of tea.
This bestselling webcomic finally became a book, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s one of the cutest new LGBTQ+ graphic novels of 2025.
Sébastien’s life changes when he kisses a hot vampire named Elia – who then turns out to be his next-door neighbor.
What follows is a sweet, paranormal romance set in a magical version of Paris.
The art is soft and fun, and I loved how Sébastien’s demisexual identity felt naturally part of the story.
Honestly, I can’t stop thinking about Pierre the bunny either.
If you’re looking for new fantasy romance graphic novels released in 2025, Les Normaux is gentle, quirky, and full of love and friendship.
A Wizard of Earthsea: A Graphic Novel by Ursula K. Le Guin, illustrated by Fred Fordham

I’ve always loved the original A Wizard of Earthsea, so seeing it reimagined as a graphic novel felt really special.
This new 2025 fantasy graphic novel adaptation is magical in every way.
Fred Fordham’s artwork brings Le Guin’s world to life so beautifully – I kept stopping just to admire the pages.
If you’re like me and love classic fantasy books, you’ll appreciate how Ged’s journey from reckless boy to wise sorcerer feels even more real here.
I think this is one of the most stunning fantasy graphic novel releases of 2025, which is perfect for both longtime fans and new readers.
It’s also a great pick for anyone exploring new epic fantasy graphic novels for the first time ever.
If you’re craving a classic story with a fresh visual twist, you’ll want this on your shelf.
How to Make Life Better When it Feels Like it’s Getting Worse by Simone Lia

Fluffy Pulcino the bunny is back, and, honestly, he made me think about my life more than most human characters do.
This gentle, quirky graphic novel from Simone Lia is one of my favorite new adult graphic novels of 2025.
Fluffy’s struggle to find his purpose in the world felt strangely personal to me. It’s like a quiet, soft self-help guide disguised as a cute bunny story.
I loved how the simple drawings made Fluffy’s feelings even more touching.
If life feels heavy right now, this book will comfort you like a soft blanket.
It’s funny, sweet, and filled with life advice that sneaks up on you when you least expect it.
For anyone searching for comforting graphic novels about adult life, this is a warm, gentle choice.
