July 2025 thriller and mystery book releases scaled

You guys know that I challenged myself at the beginning of the year to document all the new book releases across different genres every single month.

And I’m so happy to report that I’ve been doing it consistently for the past six months.

Now July is finally rolling around, summer is in full swing, and of course, there are so many exciting new thriller and mystery books everyone needs to check out.

In this post, I’ve rounded up the very best new thriller and mystery books hitting the shelves in July 2025.

There’s a little bit of everything – from cozy mysteries to dark thrillers to locked-room suspense – and they all sound so good and thrilling.

I really hope I get an ARC of at least a couple of these so I can share my reviews before they hit the shelves!

But even without that, I’m already so pumped about all of these upcoming titles.

And if you want to see a master list of all the thriller and mystery books released in 2025 so far, make sure to check out this post.

The Woman in Suite 11 by Ruth Ware – July 8th, 2025

The Woman in Suite 11

I can’t wait for this one! I loved The Woman in Cabin 10, and now Lo Blacklock is back and things sound just as thrilling.

This time, she’s off to a fancy luxury hotel in Switzerland to get her journalism career back on track after becoming a mom.

But of course, nothing is simple with Ruth Ware’s books.

When Lo gets a strange late-night call to meet the mysterious hotel owner, she finds not him, but a terrified woman claiming to be his mistress and begging for help.

What follows is a wild chase across Europe, full of danger, secrets, and the big question: who can Lo really trust? I’m ready for this nerve-wracking ride.

The Game Is Afoot by Elise Bryant – July 8th, 2025

The Game Is Afoot

Mavis is a tired, funny mom who just wanted some rest after quitting her stressful job.

But instead, she gets stuck being Supermom again, driving her daughter around and handling class duties.

Things get wild when the kids’ soccer coach suddenly dies and the police discover he was probably murdered.

Mavis starts sleuthing, digging into the secrets of the other parents, shady moms, and strange neighbors.

But in between the mystery, she’s also figuring out her own life – her fears, her ex, and what really makes her happy.

Pariah by Dan Fesperman – July 22nd, 2025

Pariah by Dan Fesperman

I think this will be such an intense, fast-paced read.

The main character, Hal Knight, used to be a famous comedian and politician until a scandal ruined him.

Now he’s hiding away on an island until the CIA shows up, asking him to spy in a dangerous Eastern European country.

The country’s brutal dictator is a fan of Hal’s old movies, so they think Hal can get close to him and gather secrets.

But of course, things go very wrong, very fast. There’s spying, betrayal, and danger at every turn.

I love a good story about redemption and second chances, and this sounds like the perfect combo of action and heart.

Miss Caroline Bingley, Private Investigator by Sharmini Kumar & Kelly Gardiner – July 8th, 2025

Miss Caroline Bingley

This book makes me smile just thinking about it.

It’s set after Pride and Prejudice, but this time the spotlight’s on Caroline Bingley – yes, the snobby one. Now she’s become a daring detective.

When Georgiana Darcy’s maid goes missing, and Georgiana herself vanishes while looking for her, Caroline jumps into action.

Soon she’s solving a murder in the dark, dangerous parts of London with shady characters, mysteries tied to India, and plenty of scandal.

I love when classic characters get fresh, bold stories like this. I’m so curious to see how clever Caroline really is.

All for the Game by Heather Buchta – July 1st, 2025

All For the Game scaled

This book is set in Texas where football rules everything, and Finn hopes his new school will help him win a scholarship to take care of his grandma.

But strange things start happening – players are disappearing, and Finn’s girlfriend Megan senses something is really wrong.

She’s followed, threatened, and spied on and it turns out the town is hiding dark, dangerous secrets behind its football obsession. Even Finn’s popular cousin Brit is dragged into the mystery.

I love books where small-town secrets bubble up like this. I can’t wait to see what the truth behind the game really is.

Murder at the Wham Bam Club by Carolyn Marie Wilkins – July 29th, 2025

Murder at the Wham Bam

This sounds so special and fresh – who doesn’t want to read a mystery set in the lively, jazzy 1920s?

Nola, a young widow and psychic in Illinois, is trying to help solve a disappearance tied to the fancy (and dangerous) Wham Bam Club.

When the club burns down and a musician is killed, the missing woman becomes the prime suspect.

But there’s so much more going on – rich folks hiding secrets, forbidden romances, and big scandals.

Now, Nola will have to use her spiritual gifts and clever mind to uncover the truth.

You Belong Here by Megan Miranda – July 29th, 2025

You Belong Here

Beckett ran away from her old town after something terrible happened years ago – two men died, her friend vanished, and her life fell apart.

Now her daughter secretly chooses to attend college there, and Beckett is terrified the past will catch up with them. T

his little town remembers everything and maybe the danger isn’t over yet.

I’m looking forward to finding out what really happened all those years ago.

Megan Miranda always writes books that keep you guessing until the very end.

Difficult Girls by Veronica Bane – July 8th, 2025

Difficult Girls

This debut sounds so sharp and dark, and I can’t wait to get my copy.

Greta is trying to turn her life around with a summer job at a local amusement park. She even starts getting close to the park’s queen bee, Mercy.

But when Mercy suddenly disappears after a strange secret-sharing moment, Greta realizes she may have been the last person to see her.

Now she’s caught in a creepy web of park gossip, weird accidents, and a bloody past that won’t stay buried.

I love thrillers where the setting feels like its own mysterious character and this amusement park sounds like it has a lot of secrets to spill.

Dead of Summer by Jessa Maxwell – July 22nd, 2025

Dead of Summer

Orla hasn’t returned to her family’s beach house in years – not since her best friend Alice disappeared from the island.

But now she’s back to pack up the house, and the memories come rushing back. Locals are watching her, old rumors are swirling, and strange things start happening again.

Even Orla’s childhood crush is back with a new girlfriend. And when someone else goes missing, the danger feels terrifyingly real.

I’m so excited for this chilling, haunting story, and I feel this will be perfect for reading on a quiet summer night.

We Won’t All Survive by Kate Alice Marshall – July 29th, 2025

We Wont All Survive

Two years ago, Mercy became famous for saving lives during a mall shooting.

But now she’s stuck on a remote island with four other survivors and someone wants them all dead. One by one, they start disappearing.

Mercy has to face her fears, figure out who the killer is, and somehow survive the nightmare all over again.

I know this will have me biting my nails and holding my breath the whole time.

I really like survival thrillers, and this one sounds like such a scary and twisty ride.

Party of Liars by Kelsey Cox – July 1st, 2025

Party of Liars scaled

A fancy Sweet Sixteen party in Texas turns into a total nightmare in this upcoming July 2025 thriller book.

Imagine being at a beautiful cliffside mansion, surrounded by secrets, when suddenly someone falls to their death in the middle of the party.

There’s a whole lineup of suspicious guests: a nervous stepmom, a spooky nanny, a quiet best friend with hidden claws, and a bitter ex-wife.

Honestly, everyone here seems like they’re hiding something and not everyone’s going to leave alive.

I can’t wait to see who the killer is in this twisty locked room mystery.

The List by Steve Berry – July 22nd, 2025

The List

I really love when thrillers combine mystery with small-town secrets, and The List promises exactly that.

Brent Walker returns to his quiet Georgia hometown after years away only to get tangled in a dangerous plot.

His new job at the town’s big paper mill looks normal at first, but the company’s success hides something shocking called The Priority Program.

Only a few people know about it and now someone wants to expose the truth before they die of cancer.

But Brent might get caught in the middle  and some very bad people want him gone.

This one sounds like such an edge-of-your-seat, slow-burning thriller. I seriously can’t wait.

Codebreaker by Jay Martel – July 22nd, 2025

Codebreaker

I am so excited for this! Codebreaker sounds like a combination of mystery, action, and brain-teasing puzzles and we actually get to solve codes along with the main character. How cool is that?

Mia’s summer plans were totally normal until agents burst into her house and her life changed forever.

Her mom is gone, her dad’s vanished, and now strange messages are pulling her into something big and maybe even life-threatening.

With the help of Logan (a charming hacker she meets at a protest), Mia runs all over Washington D.C., all the way unlocking secrets that could save the whole country.

This one sounds thrilling, fast-paced, and super fun, and it’s definitely on my must-read list.

Savvy Summers and the Sweet Potato Crimes by Sandra Jackson-Opoku – July 29th, 2025

Savvy Summers and the Sweet Potato Crimes scaled

This new book sounds so cozy and delicious, but also packed with mystery and I’m smiling just thinking about it.

Savvy owns a lovely soul food café in Chicago that’s famous for its sweet potato pie. But when a regular customer dies (right after eating her pie, everyone thinks it’s her fault.

I love mysteries where the main character solves things on her own, and with her quirky assistant, Penny, helping out, they’re determined to find out who the real killer is.

And with an annoying ex-husband and pushy investors around, it won’t be easy. This book already feels perfect and I can’t wait to read it on a cozy afternoon.

Etiquette for Lovers and Killers by Anna Fitzgerald Healy – July 1st, 2025

Etiquette for Lovers and Killers

It’s 1964 in Maine, and Billie is completely bored of small-town life until strange things start happening.

A love letter. A mysterious death. A suspiciously handsome yacht-club boy. And way too many people with secrets – plus everyone in this town seems to have a boat.

I’m really curious to see how Billie untangles this knot of lies. Something tells me this book will be full of surprises. Can’t wait!

This Stays Between Us by Sara Ochs – July 15th, 2025

This Stays Between Us

In this one, some friends go on a fun summer trip to Australia with friends and one of them goes missing, never to be seen again.

Ten years later, Phoebe’s body has finally been found and everyone who was there has to return and face the secrets they buried long ago.

I really love books about past secrets catching up with people – they make you wonder: who is lying? Who is guilty? Who’s in danger now? And what actually happened that summer?

I know this story will have twists I won’t see coming and I’m definitely looking forward to curling up with this one.

The Unravelling of Julia by Lisa Scottoline – July 15th, 2025

The Unravelling of Julia by scaled

A mystery set in Tuscany?! Count me in!

Julia inherits a beautiful villa in Italy after her husband’s sudden death, but nothing is as perfect as it seems.

Her mysterious benefactor believed she was descended from a real-life duchess and Julia starts feeling like her own life is slipping into the past.

Strange things happen. She feels watched. Her mind plays tricks on her. Is it all in her head or is something truly dangerous happening?

I love spooky psychological mysteries that mess with your mind like this.

I can already picture the haunting vineyards and secrets hiding in old stone walls. This sounds deliciously creepy.

The Frozen People by Elly Griffiths – July 8th, 2025

Frozen People

Ali Dawson leads a secret detective team that can travel into the past to investigate frozen cold cases.

But this time she gets stuck in 1850s London. Not only does she need to solve a mystery from the past, but her son is in danger back in the present.

I always enjoy reading historical mystery books, so I’m particularly looking forward to this one.

Can she solve this crime and get back to her real life in time? I really want to find out. This is going high on my reading list for sure.

She Didn’t See It Coming by Shari Lapena – July 29th, 2025

She Didnt See It Coming

I always enjoy Shari Lapena’s twisty suburban thrillers and this one looks like a good one.

A mom and wife vanishes from her fancy condo without a trace. Her car, phone, keys – everything is still there. Like she just disappeared.

And of course, her husband is left wondering: what happened? Is she alive? Who could have done this?

I really like mysteries where the normal world slowly turns scary and strange – it makes you wonder what’s going on behind closed doors.

I have a feeling this book will keep me guessing right until the very end.

This Is Where We Die by Cindy R X He – July 1st

This is Where we die

A group of friends once went on a snowy trip and only six of them came back alive.

Now, two years later, they’re trapped on a private island and someone wants revenge. One by one, they start to die.

I seriously love these creepy, no escape thrillers where old secrets lead to new danger.

Why is the killer doing this? What really happened on that ski trip? I have so many questions already!

This one feels like it’ll be full of shocking twists, so I can’t wait to get lost in its dark, twisty story.

So, which of these books are you most looking forward to reading?

There are so many I can’t wait to get my hands on, and I really hope you’re just as excited as I am!
