15 Paranormal Autumn Books to Read This Fall and Get Goosebumps

I’m keeping with that whole vibe of atmosphere and spookiness, and I truly think fall is the perfect time to dive into reading paranormal books. 

I love anything that feels a little on the edge, and paranormal books are literally where it’s at.

In this post, I’ve listed some of my personal favorite paranormal books that are absolutely perfect for fall, and I think everyone should check them out. 

These books are just everything  –  so good, so atmospheric, and so worth reading. 

The Coven Tendency by Zoe Hana Mikuta

This dark, twisty book tells the story of Vanity, an 18-year-old witch stuck in a world where teenage witches get their magic drained to keep them under control.

She dreams of becoming the star of the Museum’s fancy parties someday, instead of being locked away forever. 

There’s blood, secrets, and a sister bond that feels heartbreakingly real. 

You’ll meet Vanity’s twin, Arrogance, who might remember their lost magic, and you’ll watch their fates unfold. 

It’s gritty but impossible to look away from, like a haunted fairytale. I think it’s perfect if you want a story about sisterhood, magic gone wrong, and the wild side of being a witch.

Another Fine Mess by Lindy Ryan

In Another Fine Mess, the Evans women have protected their town in Texas from the undead for generations. 

But now, something scary and fast is breaking through their defenses, and they have to fight to save everyone they love. 

There’s mystery, a bit of humor, and a huge dose of heartwarming family strength that felt so cozy to me, especially for an autumn read. 

I think you’ll really enjoy watching Lenore, Luna, and the new sheriff try to piece things together before it’s too late. It’s like a warm, witchy hug with a sprinkle of spooky.

A Simple Twist of Fate by April Asher

Harry, a witch, once thought her fated love was Jaxon, a cougar shifter.

Fate was cruel, though, and gave him to her best friend instead, which broke Harry’s heart. 

Now she’s back in her magical hometown with a goddaughter who has fiery powers that need help.

I adored how Harry and Jaxon reconnect while their town’s magic is falling apart. 

There’s a sense of hope, laughter, and sweet autumn love that made me grin. 

If you’re like me and adore magical romances with second chances, you’ll love every sparkly bit of this one.

The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman

Bod lives in a graveyard, raised by ghosts who teach him all they know.

I love how spooky and sweet this book feels, and it’s so perfect for a crisp autumn evening.

Bod explores the graveyard’s secrets while hiding from the killer who took his family. 

This one everything from creepy adventures, ghouls, witches, to a hidden world of danger that kept me turning the pages, but it’s also about growing up and finding your place in the world, even if your family is made of ghosts. 

It feels like a bedtime story for brave souls, and I think you’ll be swept up in Bod’s magical, haunting journey.

The Grimoire Grammar School Parent Teacher Association by Caitlin Rozakis

Vivian’s daughter, Aria, gets bitten by a werewolf and ends up in a fancy magical school. 

Vivian has to deal with weird PTA rules, bake sales, scary teachers, and even a prophecy that could mean the end of the world. 

The humor is so charming and warm, and I thought the magical school vibes were cozy in that autumn kind of way. 

There’s heart, danger, and a mom who will do anything to protect her kid, even if she has to battle demons at the school talent show. 

A Dead End Wedding by Alyssa Day

This small-town paranormal mystery is so fun and romantic.

Jack, a tiger shifter, is about to marry his love, Tess, in a quirky Florida town. But of course, trouble shows up, including a terrible secret from Tess’s past and a murder that threatens their big day.

I think you’ll adore how Jack and Tess team up to solve the mystery while keeping their wedding dreams alive. 

It has magic, laughter, and just the right amount of danger to keep you cozy this fall. 

Dead End is the perfect setting, with all its weird charm and magic. Such a treat. 

Not Always an Angel by Christi Barth

Liss is just a normal girl until demons and angels come crashing into her life. 

She tries to survive while a handsome Nephilim warrior, Zavier, is determined to keep her safe. 

The apocalypse might be coming, but that doesn’t stop these two from falling for each other. 

I thought their chemistry was super sweet, and all the twists and turns kept me hooked. It’s a thrilling, slightly spooky, love-filled read that is perfect for curling up under a blanket this fall. 

The Corruption of Hollis Brown by K. Ancrum

Hollis, stuck in a sad town, meets Walt, a ghost with unfinished business. 

Walt takes over Hollis’s body, but the two boys grow close in a way that surprised me and felt so heartfelt.

I think it’s a bittersweet love story combined with chills, perfect for autumn. 

As they work together to fix what’s broken, their friendship – and maybe more – feels honest and raw. 

If you like stories about found family and healing, you’ll love this.

The Folklore of Forever by Sarah Hogle

Zelda, who doesn’t believe in magic even though her whole family does, gets dragged into ghost-hunting by her cute next-door neighbor, Morgan. 

They find way more than ghosts, including magical creatures that everyone else sees as normal pets. 

I adored how the story blends a growing romance with the magic of their quirky hometown. 

It feels like a cozy autumn hug, full of adventure, friendship, and unexpected love. 

If you want a story with mystery, humor, and a sweet enemies-to-lovers romance, this is the one to grab for a comfy fall reading day.

A Skinful of Shadows by Francis Hardinge

Makepeace is a brave twelve-year-old who can hold spirits inside her, which is both a blessing and a curse. 

After a terrible accident, a wild bear-like ghost takes over, giving her a strange kind of strength. 

Sent to her powerful father’s family, she uncovers dark secrets while a civil war is tearing the country apart. 

I was completely pulled into Makepeace’s story of courage and survival. It’s spooky, but there’s so much heart in it too. 

If you love historical settings mixed with ghostly chills, you’ll adore this haunting tale on a crisp fall night.
