I don’t think I’ve ever been this buzzing about a year of books.
If 2025 spoiled us with swoons, enchantment, and stories that hit deep in all the best ways, then 2026 is shaping up to be an absolute queen of a year for romantasy.
I’ve been tracking releases, whisper-screaming into my planner, and honestly – I love all of these books already.
This master list you’re about to read is every new romantasy title I could find for 2026, and it’s packed.
I’ve broken things down month-by-month, so whether you’re looking for the first big buzz of January or that swoony summer release to cling to, I’ve got you.
Last year was pretty amazing (and I still think about some of those books daily), but 2026 is bringing us even more magic, more enemies-to-lovers that actually deliver, more castles, curses, hidden royals, and kisses that feel like destiny.
I am so here for it and I know you will be too.
So grab your favorite cup of tea (or sparkling water, or witch’s brew – no judgment), and let’s get into every romantasy release you need to put on your TBR this year.
I already love these books and I can’t wait for you to love them too.
Bound by the Sky by Megan G. Elisabeth

Bound by the Sky takes us to a world with pirate ships in the clouds, floating cities, and danger everywhere, which honestly sounds magical and terrifying in the best way.
Amaya starts out grounded and sure of her future, but everything changes when she’s taken by a powerful Sky Lord and thrown into a world she never wanted to be part of.
I love how her journey won’t be just about survival, but about learning who she really is when everything familiar is taken away.
Then there’s Will, who lives among the clouds but has lost pieces of himself to stay there.
Their connection feels slow, tense, and meaningful, especially with so much danger hanging over them.
I’m really looking forward to the romance here because it feels earned, not rushed.
This book sounds thrilling, emotional, and full of wonder, and I already know I’ll be rooting for Amaya and Will the whole time.
The Wolf and His King by Finn Longman

This one feels soft, haunting, and deeply emotional, and I am so excited for it.
The Wolf and His King is a queer retelling of an old werewolf tale, and it leans hard into longing, identity, and love.
Bisclavret is cursed to become a wolf and live in exile, yet all he wants is belonging. That alone breaks my heart a little.
When he finally reaches the royal court, the chance at knighthood feels like hope, but it also feels fragile.
The king’s story makes this even better. He never wanted the crown and carries his own loneliness, which makes his bond with Bisclavret feel tender and real.
I love stories where love grows quietly, through looks and trust, and this sounds exactly like that. The grief, the hunt, and the question of loving someone who is more than human all feel powerful.
I’m really looking forward to crying gently while reading this one.
Dragon Cursed by Elise Kova

This book sounds intense, scary, and impossible to put down.
In Dragon Cursed, dragons have destroyed almost everything, and only one city still stands.
What makes this story really chilling is the curse–anyone can slowly turn into a monster and lose themselves completely.
The fear of not knowing who is cursed, or if you might be next, makes the stakes feel so high.
The main character’s voice already feels raw and honest, and I love that she’s not powerful without cost. Her fear feels real, and that makes me care so much more about her fate.
Lucan, who follows her like a shadow, sounds like the perfect mix of annoying, protective, and mysterious, which is one of my favorite romantasy dynamics.
I’m really excited to see how trust and love grow in such a dangerous world. This book feels dark, emotional, and very addictive.
The Younger Gods by Katie Shepard

The Younger Gods follows Iona, who thought she defeated the gods but is still living with loss and grief.
I love how the story doesn’t pretend victory fixes everything. Losing Taran has broken her, and her choice to travel to the land of the dead for him feels desperate and deeply human.
What really excites me is the twist–finding out the gods are back and that Taran may not be who she thought he was. That kind of heartbreak and confusion makes romantasy so powerful.
I’m really looking forward to seeing Iona fight not just gods, but love, memory, and betrayal. This book sounds emotional, brave, and full of quiet strength, and I know I’ll be thinking about it long after I finish.
The Wolf and the Crown of Blood by Elizabeth May

The Wolf and the Crown of Blood gives us a world where princesses are meant to die over and over to keep peace, which is such a chilling idea.
Bryony’s fate feels cruel and unfair, and that already makes me want to root for her.
When the god-king sends the Wolf–an immortal assassin–to kill her, the tension is instant and delicious.
Evander sounds dangerous, tired, and deadly, which makes his growing feelings for Bryony even more powerful. I love romances where love feels forbidden and costly, and this one promises exactly that.
Gods, blood, sacrifice, and desire all mixing together? Yes, please. I’m really looking forward to the angst, the spice, and the feeling that everything could fall apart at any moment.
This one feels like late-night reading material for sure.
A Vow in Vengeance by Jaclyn Rodriguez

This book sounds fierce, fast, and full of fire, and I am very excited about it. A Vow in Vengeance follows Rune, who has lost everything to the Immortals and is done being powerless.
I love that she chooses her fate instead of waiting for it. The Forge, a brutal school for tarot magic, sounds dangerous and thrilling, especially with so many people watching and waiting for her to fail.
Rune’s magic being rare and powerful raises the stakes so much, especially since she’s forced to live with Prince Draven.
Their dynamic sounds sharp, tense, and full of sparks, which is one of my favorite romantasy setups.
This book feels bold and exciting, and I already know I’ll be cheering Rune on every step of the way.
These romantasy books are a whole mood!
Magic, romance, and adventure all in one–how can you resist?
