It’s been so much fun putting together my monthly lists of the best upcoming sci-fi and fantasy books, and March 2025 is bringing even more exciting reads.

I love sharing these lists because they help you stay up to date on the best new books to add to your reading pile. 

With the start of spring this month, I wanted to do something a little different, too.

I’ve written about some spring self-care ideas to help you refresh for the season, posted a roundup of the best spring books for adults, and even curated a selection of beautiful spring books for children.

All I want is for you to welcome the season with fresh, fun reads and ways to enjoy the outdoors. 

New Fantasy Books Coming Out In March 2025

1. The Encanto’s Curse by Melissa de la Cruz (March 4th)

In this YA romantasy inspired by Filipino folklore, MJ Robertson-Rodriguez, the newly crowned vampire queen, must fight the curse that threatens her kingdom and herself. 

As she battles the manananggal (a vampire-like monster), she finds herself torn between two loves: Lucas, who broke her heart, and Qian, a charming monster hunter. 

It’s a combo of romance, action, and self-discovery, and I can’t wait to see how MJ breaks her curse before it consumes her.

2. His Mortal Demise by Vanessa Le (March 18th)

If you’re a fan of epic love stories, this finale to The Last Bloodcarver duology is for you.

Kochin, a heartsooth with the power to heal, tries desperately to bring his beloved Nhika back from death, but his search leads him to a dangerous crossroads. 

This tale of grief, sacrifice, and impossible decisions will keep you on the edge of your seat, and I’m so ready to get into their emotional journey.

3. The Ragpicker King by Cassandra Clare (March 4th)

In the thrilling sequel to Sword Catcher, Kel and Lin are back, fighting a web of love, lies, and conspiracy in the dazzling city of Castellane. 

There’s magic, treachery, and heart-racing drama as they must decide who to trust in a city that could destroy them. 

I’m really looking forward to how the romance and intrigue develop in this epic fantasy.

4. Children of Useyi by Moses Use Otomi (March 25th)

The Mud Fam girls are back, ready to fight gods and monsters in this West African-inspired sequel. 

Dirt, the fierce and legendary fighter, is determined to win the tournament.

But when mysterious forces come into play, she must face magic and monsters that could change everything. 

I love the sisterhood and fierce determination in this series, and I can’t wait to see how Dirt and her friends fight to protect their world.

5. When the Bones Sing by Ginny Myers Sain (March 4th)

Dovie doesn’t believe in magic, even though she can hear the bones of the dead sing in her small town. 

But when her best friend Lo becomes haunted by shadows and the truth behind the town’s disappearances unravels, Dovie and Lo must uncover the dark secrets of their town. 

This supernatural thriller sounds so chilling, and I love the mix of mystery and magic.

6. Fable For the End of the World by Ava Reid (March 4th)

In a dystopian world ruled by a ruthless corporation, Inesa and Melinoë must navigate survival, sacrifice, and a dangerous romance. 

Inesa, marked for sacrifice, fights to stay alive in a cruel world, while Melinoë, the cold assassin, begins to question everything she’s been taught. 

It’s a thrilling blend of romance and survival, and I’m eager to see where their journey takes them.

7. The Keeper of Lonely Spirits by E.M. Anderson (March 25th)

Peter, an immortal ghost hunter, must confront his tragic past while helping the people of Harrington, Ohio, with their supernatural problems. 

Along the way, he forms bonds that could change his eternal life. 

This cozy fantasy sounds so heartwarming and bittersweet, and I love the idea of a found family and a second chance at happiness after centuries of loneliness.

8. To Steal From Thieves by M.K. Lobb (March 25th)

Kane, a charming conman, teams up with Zaria, an alchemologist, for a high-stakes heist at London’s Crystal Palace. 

The job sounds impossible, but when feelings of attraction and betrayal complicate things, it’s all about trust, love, and staying one step ahead. 

This one sounds like a fast-paced, thrilling ride with lots of twists and turns and who doesn’t love a good heist story?

11. Igniting Fate by Jean Louise (March 11th)

In this thrilling sequel to Waking Fire, Naira leaves her home for the first time to face a world-threatening dragon god. 

With danger around every corner, she must confront her destiny and try to save everything she loves. 

Fans of the first book will love this action-packed continuation filled with heart and unexpected twists.

12. What Wakes the Bells by Elle Tesch (March 11th)

Mina is the Keeper of Vaiwyn’s magical bells, which protect her city from an ancient evil. 

When one of the bells rings, it awakens a terrifying force that turns the city against itself. 

Now, Mina must race against time to stop the destruction and reveal the truth, even if it means facing loved ones who might not be who they seem.

13. Galaphile by Terry Brooks (March 11th)

In this epic tale set in the Shannara world, we follow the origin story of Galaphile, a powerful mage who builds the Druid Order’s legendary citadel, Paranor. 

From a lonely orphan to a leader who changes the world, Galaphile must fight an ancient evil that will impact generations to come. 

Fans of the Shannara series will enjoy seeing how it all began and I’m positively stoked. 

14. The Hallow Hunt by Margie Fuston (March 18th)

Bly lost everything after winning the Revenant Games and now must do whatever it takes to save her sister. 

Alongside Kerrigan, the vampire she once betrayed, she hunts for a mystical root that could help them both survive. 

But with enemies closing in, Bly will have to decide if she can trust Kerrigan and if their feelings for each other are worth fighting for.

15. Oathbound by Tracy Deonn (March 4th)

Bree Matthews has separated herself from the Legendborn Order, but now she’s bound to the dangerous Shadow King. 

As tensions rise among the secret society, Bree is dragged into a web of kidnappings and deadly secrets. 

She’ll need to face her past and decide if she can keep running or fight for the truth.

16. The Scorpion and the Night Blossom by Amélie Wen Zhao (March 4th)

Àn’yīng enters a deadly competition in hopes of saving her dying mother from the demons that plague her world. 

Along the way, she meets Yù’chén, a rival contestant who becomes her protector. 

But as the competition heats up, Àn’yīng will have to decide if she can trust Yù’chén or if he’s hiding deadly secrets of his own.

17. Divining the Leaves by Shveta Thakrar (March 4th)

20. Our Infinite Fates by Laura Steven (March 4th)

21. Tideborn by Eliza Chan (March 25th)

22. The Shadow Bride by Shelby Mahurin (March 25th)

In the conclusion of the Serpent & Dove duology, Célie wakes up as a vampire after trying to save the ones she loves. 

With the balance between life and death shattered, she must face a dark force coming for her and her world. 

Alongside Michal, the vampire who cursed her, Célie will fight to mend the veil between life and death, and prove that love can conquer anything.

Upcoming Science Fiction Books Coming Out In March 2025

1. Murder by Memory by Olivia Waite (March 18th)

Murder by Memory is a cozy space mystery where Dorothy, a sharp detective, wakes up in the wrong body just as a murder happens. 

Someone is erasing people’s minds from the ship’s Library, and Dorothy needs to figure out who’s behind it. 

With plenty of twists and an intriguing mystery, this audiobook is perfect for anyone who loves a good whodunit with a sci-fi spin.

2. Idolfire by Grace Curtis (March 11th)

In Idolfire, two women, Aleya and Kirby, set off on a journey to a city full of ancient magic and secrets. 

They both have their own reasons for wanting to get to Nivela, and along the way, they bond over a slowburn romance and sword fights. 

It’s a great mix of adventure, history, and magic, all wrapped in a beautiful sapphic story.

3. When The Moon Hits Your Eye by John Scalzi (March 25th)

In this funny and wild story, the moon suddenly turns into a giant wheel of cheese. 

The book follows different characters as they try to understand and deal with this absurd situation. 

If you like quirky, unexpected stories with lots of humor, this one will definitely keep you laughing.

4. Luminous by Silvia Park (March 11th)

In a future Korea, robots are a big part of society, but they’re treated as second-class citizens. 

Luminous tells the story of three siblings – two human and one robot – who reunite while investigating a murder. 

This book explores deep questions about humanity, family, and what it means to truly be alive.
