One of my favourite things about finding a good Christian novel is how a story can entertain me while also giving me something meaningful to think about long after I finish reading.
I love books that bring faith into the characters’ everyday struggles, whether they’re facing danger, working through grief, questioning their purpose, or learning to trust God when life doesn’t go according to plan.
For my Christmas reading list this year, I wanted to bring together Christian fiction books with different settings and storylines, so you can find something that suits your mood.
You’ll find biblical stories, historical romances, suspenseful mysteries, and action-packed adventures, all with faith playing an important role in the characters’ journeys.
If you’re searching for Christian books to read during the Christmas holidays, I hope these recommendations help you find a story you’ll genuinely enjoy.
1. The Collector of Burned Books by Roseanna M. White

Set in Nazi-occupied Paris, this historical novel follows Corinne as she helps protect banned books through a secret library at a time when preserving knowledge can put lives in danger.
Her work becomes even more complicated when Christian, a German professor opposed to the Nazi Party, finds himself caught up in the very system he rejects.
I find stories about people risking everything to protect ideas especially compelling, and this one brings that struggle into a setting where censorship and persecution threaten both freedom and human dignity.
Corinne and Christian must navigate the dangers surrounding them while holding on to their convictions and the connection developing between them.
The historical backdrop gives their choices real weight, while their determination to protect what matters adds a hopeful element to an otherwise frightening period.
If you’re looking for Christian historical fiction set during World War II, faith-based historical novels about courage, or Christian romance books with themes of resistance and hope, this is a wonderful title to consider.
2. Fire Mountain by Dana Mentink

Kit wakes after a truck crash with a baby in her arms, a fragmented memory, and the threat of a nearby volcanic eruption hanging over her situation.
Things become even more dangerous when she encounters Cullen, a former police officer who prefers to keep his distance from other people but finds himself drawn into her fight to survive.
A bullet hole, a bloody handprint, and men searching for them make it clear that the crash is only part of a much larger problem.
I enjoy suspense novels that keep the characters moving while still making room for emotional development, and Kit and Cullen have to learn to rely on each other as the danger increases.
Their very different personalities add another layer to the story, especially as Cullen becomes involved in protecting Kit and the child.
Alongside the action, the novel offers a reminder of faith and the comfort of believing that God remains present during frightening and uncertain circumstances.
If you enjoy Christian suspense novels with action, dangerous mysteries, and faith-filled stories about survival, Fire Mountain is worth adding to your reading list.
3. Noble: The Story of Maakah by Mesu Andrews

Maakah enters marriage with David, the shepherd who becomes a warrior and king, without immediately feeling enthusiastic about the future awaiting her.
As she witnesses his leadership and faith, her view of him begins to change, although finding her place among his people brings its own challenges.
I like biblical fiction that gives women room to experience complicated emotions instead of presenting their lives as simple journeys from doubt to happiness.
Maakah’s struggle to belong provides an important part of the story, particularly as she navigates rejection and tries to understand where she fits within a divided community.
Her experiences also bring questions of faith, identity, and purpose into the larger biblical setting.
For readers searching for biblical historical fiction about women, Christian novels about faith and purpose, or Old Testament fiction that explores familiar biblical figures from a different perspective, this book offers an interesting angle.
4. Two Seconds Too Late by Dani Pettrey

Riley works as a skip tracer, and her latest assignment requires her to go undercover at an exclusive retreat after a woman disappears.
She must work alongside Greyson, a private investigator whose strict approach to his job clashes with her more daring personality.
Their differences create friction from the beginning, but the investigation quickly becomes much more dangerous when a hitman enters the picture.
I love a Christian mystery that gives me an engaging puzzle to follow while also building tension between characters who don’t immediately see eye to eye.
Riley and Greyson have to navigate unexpected threats, learn when to trust each other, and confront the limits of their own plans.
The faith element adds another dimension to their journey, particularly as they grapple with trusting God’s timing in circumstances they cannot fully control.
If you’re looking for Christian mystery novels with suspense, romantic tension, undercover investigations, and faith-based themes, this is a strong choice for your Christmas reading list.
5. These Blue Mountains by Sarah Loudin Thomas

Hedda travels from Germany to North Carolina in search of her missing fiancé, hoping that the journey will finally give her answers about his disappearance.
Instead, she encounters a mystery involving a woman’s body discovered inside Fritz’s coffin, leaving her with even more questions to investigate.
Her path brings her into contact with Deputy Garland, a man carrying his own grief and secrets, and their developing relationship adds an emotional thread to the unfolding mystery.
I enjoy stories where romance grows alongside a search for answers because the characters have to make room for new possibilities while dealing with painful experiences from the past.
Hedda and Garland’s gradual movement toward trust gives the story a tender quality without taking away from the uncertainty surrounding the investigation.
Themes of grief, healing, and second chances make this an appealing option when you want something emotionally rich.
If you’re searching for Christian historical romance novels with mystery, faith, and themes of redemption, These Blue Mountains is worth a place on your reading list.
6. The Daughter of Rome by Angela Elwell Hunt

Calandra lives in ancient Rome, where she works alongside her father, a sculptor, until a devastating fire changes the course of her life.
As she encounters Christians, she begins learning about a faith that differs sharply from everything she has known.
Her experiences become more dangerous when Emperor Nero blames Christians for the fire, forcing her to confront difficult questions about what she believes and how far she is willing to stand by those beliefs.
I find historical novels about the early Christian church especially moving when they show how ordinary people respond to persecution and uncertainty.
Calandra’s journey gives the story a personal perspective on the risks faced by Christians during this turbulent period of Roman history.
The combination of historical danger, spiritual discovery, and difficult moral choices makes the novel more than a simple account of life in ancient Rome.
If you enjoy Christian historical fiction set in ancient Rome, novels about early Christianity, or faith-based stories about courage and sacrifice, this is a compelling choice.
7. Hope’s Enduring Echo by Kim Vogel Sawyer

Leo is a young geology student eager to earn his father’s approval when he spots Jennie waving what appears to be a fossil from a passing train.
His decision to jump off the train and investigate brings him into Jennie’s life, where he discovers that she has been caring for her injured father.
Their shared interest in fossils creates an easy starting point for friendship, especially as Leo takes a genuine interest in Jennie’s discoveries and company.
I like gentle historical romances that allow affection to develop through everyday interactions rather than rushing the characters into a relationship.
As Leo and Jennie spend time together, their connection grows alongside their discoveries, giving them opportunities to learn more about themselves and each other.
Faith and hope form part of the emotional foundation of their relationship, making the story a comforting choice for readers who enjoy romance with a spiritual dimension.
If you’re looking for Christian historical romance books with a slow-building relationship, gentle storytelling, and themes of hope and trust, this is a lovely title to consider.
8. This Promised Land by Cathy Gohlke
Chloe and Lily travel to Israel with their team to investigate a mystery involving ancient seals and a dangerous secret.
Their journey takes them through places such as Masada, desert caves, and hidden tunnels, giving the investigation a vivid historical and geographical backdrop.
The sisters face growing danger as a shadowy organisation known as The Society pursues them, making cooperation and faith especially important as the mystery unfolds.
I enjoy adventure novels that give family relationships an important role because the characters have more to rely on than their own individual strengths.
Chloe and Lily’s bond becomes particularly significant as they confront threats and try to uncover the truth.
Gil and Aaron also contribute to the story, while the combination of action and spiritual themes gives the adventure a faith-centred foundation.
If you’re searching for Christian adventure novels set in Israel, faith-based mystery books involving biblical history, or suspenseful Christian fiction about family and courage, This Promised Land is an exciting option.
9. Splendor of the Land by Connilyn Cossette

Gavriel is a soldier with a complicated past who hopes to discover a purpose beyond his life as a fighter.
His mission brings him into contact with Zahava, a talented goldsmith whose physical challenges and private circumstances have shaped the way she lives.
Their meeting sets the stage for a relationship that develops alongside their individual struggles with identity, purpose, and the beliefs they hold about themselves.
I appreciate romances where both characters have room to grow, particularly when their connection encourages them to reconsider the limits they have placed on their own lives.
The ancient Israelite setting adds historical depth, while the growing relationship brings tenderness to a story that also involves danger and personal challenges.
Faith plays an important role in how the characters understand their circumstances and the direction their lives might take.
If you enjoy biblical historical romance books with strong characters, ancient Israel settings, and themes of faith, grace, and personal growth, this is a beautiful choice for your Christmas TBR.
10. Every Hour Until Then by Gabrielle Meyer

Kathryn has the unusual ability to live across two different periods, dividing her life between London in 1888 and Washington, D.C., in 1938.
Her situation becomes even more urgent when she learns that her sister is destined to become the final victim of Jack the Ripper.
Trying to prevent that future forces Kathryn to face a devastating dilemma involving her sister’s safety and the possibility of remaining with the man she loves.
I find time-travel fiction particularly fascinating when the central concept creates emotional consequences for the characters instead of serving only as an unusual plot device.
Kathryn’s two lives give her choices an added sense of urgency, as every decision could change the future she is trying to protect.
The historical settings, suspense, romance, and questions of faith and family make this an engaging option for readers who want a story with several layers.
If you’re looking for Christian time-travel novels, faith-based historical fiction with suspense, or Christian romance books featuring impossible choices and alternate time periods, Every Hour Until Then deserves a place on your list.
