I decided to do something a little different this year.

Instead of compiling separate posts for every month where I talk about new releases, I’m creating one big master list – this post – where you can find all the best books coming out this year in one place.

In this post, I’ve listed the very best thriller and mystery books set to be released in 2026, and I’ve divided them by month so you can easily check out the books I’m most excited about.

And honestly, there are so many incredible releases to look forward to – 2026 is really shaping up to be an exciting year for mystery lovers.

The books on this list range from cozy mysteries to dark thrillers, with plenty of psychological twists thrown in.

Every single one sounds amazing, and I genuinely can’t wait for us to start reading, reviewing, and talking about them here on the blog.

My Husband’s Wife by Alice Feeney

My Husbands Wife scaled

Honestly, this one already has me on the edge of my seat.

Eden Fox is an artist about to show her work to the world, but her life literally turns upside down when she comes home to Spyglass and a stranger opens the door – her husband insists the stranger is his wife.

Meanwhile, Birdy inherits the same house and discovers a strange clinic that predicts death.

I love stories that blur truth and lies, and this one promises obsession, secrets, and twists that make you question everything.

I can’t wait to step inside Spyglass and try to figure out what’s real before the last page.

It Should Have Been You by Andrea Mara

It Should Have Been You

This is giving me serious “one wrong message changes everything” vibes, and I am here for it.

You accidentally send a private message to your whole neighborhood, and suddenly, rumors spread like wildfire, and even worse – someone dies.

The tension of figuring out who is targeting whom in a picture-perfect suburb sounds deliciously suspenseful.

I love thrillers that take small mistakes and turn them into life-or-death situations, and this one seems perfect for a page-turning, one-sitting read.

Cross Your Heart and Hope He Dies by Jenny Elder Moke

Cross Your Heart and Hope He Dies

If you love rich people behaving terribly while someone tries to survive it all, this is going to be a riot.

Juliette Winters is trying to save her publishing company and snag a huge book deal, but when the author dies and his memoir disappears, murder enters the mix.

Pairing her with a swoony doctor named Charlie? Yes, please.

I can already tell this book will be funny, glamorous, messy, and thrilling all at once.

I love that it’s a mystery-rom-com because I get high-stakes suspense without giving up on the laughs and heart.

All the Little Houses by May Cobb

The Little Houses

This one sounds like the perfect mix of 1980s nostalgia and wicked intrigue.

The powerful, beautiful Nellie and the cunning Charleigh seem like they’re playing a high-stakes game of who will dominate the town.

I love thrillers that explore how adults can behave as ruthlessly as teenagers, and the secrets hidden in all the little houses? Absolutely my jam.

I’m looking forward to seeing who comes out on top and who falls, because this isn’t just about crime or mystery – it’s also about power, ambition, and human pettiness in the most delicious way.

Definitely Maybe Not a Detective by Sarah Fox

Definitely Maybe Not a Detective by

I am already charmed by Emersyn.

She’s not a detective, she’s just a regular woman trying to survive, and somehow she ends up solving a real murder. Plus, there’s Wyatt, the ridiculously hot stranger.

I love that this mixes romance, comedy, and mystery in a way that feels fun rather than heavy.

The accidental detective trope always gets me because it’s so easy to relate to someone who’s in way over their head but still tries to do the right thing.

I can’t wait to see how the fake detective business card leads to real danger and maybe even real love.

No One Would Do What the Lamberts Have Done by Sophie Hannah

No One Would Do What the Lamberts Have Done

Sophie Hannah’s writing always messes with your head in the best way, and this one sounds like a slow burn of tension.

The Lamberts are pushed to consider the unthinkable to protect a loved one, and I love that moral twist.

I can already imagine the suspense building with every turn of the page – wondering what’s ethical, what’s impossible, and what might happen next.

I can’t wait to dive into this family drama-turned-thriller and see just how far people are willing to go when love and desperation collide.

Wreck Your Heart by Lori Rader-Day

Wreck Your Heart

Dahlia “Doll” Devine seems like such a resilient character, and I love her already.

From rough beginnings to the Chicago country music scene, she’s trying to make it on her own, but her past comes roaring back in the form of her mother and a mysterious young woman.

Add a dead body into the mix, and suddenly, everything she’s built feels at risk.

I love thrillers that are character-driven like this, where the tension is not just about the crime but about relationships, trust, and personal growth.

I am definitely ready to cheer for Dahlia while trying to figure out the mystery.

The First Time I Saw Him by Laura Dave

The First Time I Saw Him

Picking up right after The Last Thing He Told Me, this one promises heart-pounding suspense and emotional depth.

Hannah and Bailey are finally building a new life, but Owen shows up, and suddenly, danger is back.

I love thrillers that combine family bonds, racing against time, and emotional stakes, and this sequel sounds like it will keep me gripping the pages while rooting for Hannah.

The tension between wanting safety and wanting answers is exactly my favorite kind of suspense.

I am so ready to follow them on this high-stakes journey.

What Boys Learn by Andromeda Romano-Lax

What Boys Learn

A mother suspects her own son could be involved in something terrible, and the story explores not just a crime but family, upbringing, and society’s role in shaping boys.

I love psychological thrillers that make you question morality and human nature, and this one seems like it will do exactly that.

I’m curious to see how Abby faces her fears and whether she can confront the truth without losing herself.

This one feels dark, emotional, and completely absorbing – I can’t wait to read it.

I’m so excited for all the thriller and mystery books coming out in 2026 – especially in trade paperback!

I can’t wait to get lost in these stories and share my thoughts with you.
