Thanksgiving is definitely my favorite holiday of the entire year because it’s just so cozy.
I love any excuse to eat, and I absolutely adore the warm, welcoming atmosphere that’s always present during Thanksgiving.
And of course, as book lovers, we have to tie books into everything – otherwise, how else will people know we truly love reading?
So, in the spirit of good food, cozy blankets, and mystery-filled nights, I’ve rounded up some of my personal favorite cozy mystery Thanksgiving books.
I love cozy mysteries because they have all the charm and lightheartedness that make them perfect for the season.
They still deliver the mystery, the romance, and the fun.
And those quirky characters that make them such a joy to read, especially during Thanksgiving.
Death in a Turkey Town by Melanie Jackson

When turkeys take over Hope Falls after a truck overturns, Chloe Boston – meter maid and amateur sleuth – is told to round them up.
But she ends up chasing more than birds when she stumbles upon a murder.
Between a wedding, a suspicious groom, and a growing list of suspects, Chloe has her hands full before Thanksgiving dinner.
I think this book feels like the perfect Thanksgiving cozy – it’s quirky, funny, and full of holiday spirit, all while keeping that small-town charm that makes cozy mysteries so comforting.
The Diva Runs Out of Thyme by Krista Davis

Sophie Winston just wants to win the local stuffing contest, but her rival Natasha has other plans.
Things turn messy when Sophie discovers a dead body and finds her name linked to the murder.
With Thanksgiving dinner and her reputation both on the line, she has to clear her name fast.
I love how this one mixes food, humor, and myster.
It’s the kind of cozy that makes you laugh, drool over delicious dishes, and root for Sophie all the way.
Occasion of Revenge by Marcia Talley

Hannah Ives is supposed to be celebrating her father’s sudden wedding, but when a guest dies and her father disappears, joy turns to shock.
As she digs into the strange happenings, family secrets and heartbreaks come to light.
This book feels like a rich Thanksgiving feast – full of drama, family tension, and just enough mystery to keep you guessing while you sip your pumpkin spice latte.
The Trouble with Turkeys by Kathi Daley

When Zoe helps out at a turkey farm right before Thanksgiving, she never expects to find herself tangled up in a murder case involving greedy heirs and a dead miser.
Add some tipsy turkeys to the mix, and chaos is guaranteed.
I adore how light and fun this one feels.
It’s got that perfect mix of humor, small-town coziness, and a festive farm setting that makes it ideal for Thanksgiving reading.
Murder of a Barbie and Ken by Denise Swanson

Skye’s social life takes a dark turn when her new friends – perfect couple Barbie and Ken – end up dead.
Everyone thought they were flawless, but secrets hide behind those shiny smiles.
Skye must uncover who wanted them gone before the killer strikes again.
I think this one’s a great Thanksgiving pick if you want a bit of sass and humor with your mystery.
Thanksgiving Murder in the Mountains by Niall Magill

When a skeleton surfaces after a mudslide in a quiet California village, the B.E.A.Wares Detective Agency – a group of sharp, curious teens – and their grandpa dive into a decades-old murder mystery.
But when Grandpa vanishes, things get personal.
I love how this story feels like gathering around the fire for a family tale.
It’s layered, heartfelt, and full of Thanksgiving warmth, even as it uncovers cold secrets.
Turkey Day Murder by Leslie Meier

Lucy Stone’s Thanksgiving is packed: cooking for twelve, wrangling kids, and now investigating a murder.
When a local activist is found dead, Lucy can’t resist digging for the truth.
I think this book captures Thanksgiving perfectly – the chaos, the family moments, and the sense of community – all wrapped up in a small-town mystery that’s both charming and suspenseful.
Death of a Turkey by Kate Borden

Mayor Peggy Turner’s Colonial-style Thanksgiving celebration takes a dark twist when her neighbor is found dead – and the clues point to her.
Now Peggy must clear her name before she becomes the main course.
I love how classic and cozy this mystery feels.
It has got that perfect small-town Thanksgiving setting with a side of good old-fashioned whodunit fun.
Telltale Turkey Caper by Georgette Livingston

Veterinarian Jennifer Gray thought she’d be spending Thanksgiving helping animals, not solving another mystery.
But when a turkey leads her straight into a new case, Jennifer must piece together the clues before things spiral.
I really like how this series mixes animal love with sleuthing.
Light, warm, and it makes you want to snuggle up with your pet after each chapter.
The Thanksgiving Day Murder by Lee Harris

When a woman disappears during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, ex-nun Christine Bennett steps in to uncover the truth.
As she digs through the missing woman’s mysterious past, she finds dark secrets that could lead to another tragedy.
This one feels like the deeper, more emotional side of Thanksgiving reading.
