Whenever it’s time to pick a book to read, I don’t consciously go after sports romance novels.

In fact, I feel like sports romances find me rather than me actively looking for them. I’ve never really considered myself a sports romance fan, but lately, I’ve been getting a lot of hockey romance books and actually reading them.

This book, though, has been on my TBR for a long time. So when I finally snagged a copy, I just had to read it immediately.

And I loved it so much. Unlike the more popular sport in romance novels (hockey), this one is actually a tennis romance. Never did I think I’d say the word tennis without making an inappropriate joke, but here we are – adulthood calls.

The story follows our female lead, Flora, who finds out her boyfriend has been cheating on her. She loses her job soon after and, feeling unmoored, decides to return to her art.

While she’s looking for inspiration, she crosses paths with our male lead, Kieran – a former tennis prodigy determined to win Wimbledon. He has a lot of baggage, from attitude problems to personal struggles both on and off the court.

Somehow, he ends up renting a room in her house, and circumstances force her to stay there too.

It’s during this time of living together that their love story begins, with challenges from her ex, his complicated family, their pasts, and, of course, the ups and downs of their growing relationship.

This was honestly one of the sweetest romance novels I’ve read in a long while. I adored it.

The two leads are perfectly matched, and everything – the dialogue, the prose, the setting – just works together to elevate their story.

There were times I cried while reading, times I wanted to scream because of the tension, and times when my heart actually hurt for the characters.

The author really knows how to pull emotions out of you, and that’s why I’m probably going to recommend this book forever.

It’s a story with true emotional depth. The romantic intensity between the leads is everything I want in a romance – it’s raw, passionate, and deeply moving.

I love when an author can stir up so many emotions in me, and I absolutely flew through this book.

Yes, there’s a third-act breakup (as expected in romance), but I promise it all comes together beautifully.

The separation was important for both characters because it marked the culmination of their individual arcs. We saw them grow both together and apart, and by the time they reunited, it felt earned.

That, to me, is what makes a romance book unforgettable.

So, if you’re in the mood for something sweet, romantic, emotional, and spicy, this is the book for you.

I can’t recommend it enough. Let me know if you read it and what parts tugged at your heart the most.
