I genuinely never thought I’d say this, but you guys, I now read monster romance books.

And that might not seem like much coming from someone who reads everything from vampires to werewolves, but monsters are a whole new playing field.

I’m talking about gargoyles, lizardmen, big gigantic bears – basically any kind of monster you can imagine.

I love my romance sweet, cute, and spicy, and that’s exactly what these books deliver.

In this post, I’ve written about some totally sweet and romantic monster romance books I’ve recently read, and I genuinely think everyone should check them out.

The monsters are top-tier romantic, and while they’re not for everyone, I think many will love them.

Threads of Fate by Lexi Esme

Threads of Fate

Rhianne gets stranded in the woods and ends up running for her life until a mysterious creature saves her.

He’s fierce, with glowing red eyes, and though he’s clearly dangerous, she can’t help being drawn to him.

This story has a haunting, fairy tale-like feel, and I really loved how Rhianne’s fear slowly turns into fascination.

The monster, Sephtis, is holding onto dark secrets, and even though he wants to protect her, he might be her greatest threat.

This one’s all about fate, desire, and finding light in the darkest places.

It’s intense, emotional, and beautifully romantic in a wild way.

Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon

Ice Planet Barbarians

Georgie’s been kidnapped by aliens, but things go from bad to downright freezing when she’s dumped on an ice planet.

Just when it seems like it can’t get worse, she meets a giant blue alien with horns who’s oddly sweet and super into her.

This book is fun, spicy, and surprisingly adorable.

I loved how Georgie adapts, and the alien love interest is protective and totally swoon-worthy.

Their connection is wild and weird but also really charming.

If you like romance with adventure, laughs, and a blue guy who melts your heart, this one’s for you.

Mandy and the Tentacle Monster by Bebe Harper

Mandy and the Tentacle Monster

Mandy is taken by aliens and treated like a cute little pet.

Her captor is a big tentacled creature who thinks she’s the most precious thing ever.

But when he realizes Mandy is more than a pet – she’s a person with thoughts, dreams, and feelings – it changes everything.

This is a gentle, slow-burn romance that grows in the sweetest way.

I liked how Mandy’s voice stays strong, and how their love builds out of understanding.

It’s a quiet, thoughtful story that proves love can blossom in the strangest places even if tentacles are involved.

The Dragon’s Bride by Katee Robert

The Dragons Bride

Briar escapes an awful marriage by making a deal with a demon.

And then she ends up auctioned to a dragon named Sol.

But he’s not the scary monster she expected. He’s kind, protective, and wants her to feel safe and happy.

I liked how Briar slowly lets her guard down, and how Sol never pushes her.

There’s steam, of course, but also healing and trust.

Their relationship is tender, full of sweet surprises.

This book feels like a warm hug from a dragon who’d fight the world for you. I honestly adored them.

Sweet Vengeance by Viano Oniomoh

Sweet Vengeance

Joy wants revenge. Malachi wants freedom. They strike a deal – her vengeance in exchange for helping him stay in the human world.

What neither expects is how much they’ll crave each other.

Joy’s strength and pain feel so real, and Malachi, even though he’s a demon, treats her with such care.

This one is steamy, yes, but it’s also about healing and letting love in when you think you’re too broken.

Their chemistry is off the charts, and I liked how the story blends dark themes with hope and tenderness.

It’s a really powerful, emotional ride.

My Boyfriend is a Bear by Pamela Ribon

My Boyfriend is a Bear

Nora falls in love with a bear. Yes, an actual bear.

But he’s sweet, gentle, and makes her feel truly seen – something no human boyfriend ever did.

Their relationship is quirky and heartwarming, and the challenges they face (like hibernation and skeptical friends) feel oddly real.

I loved the way the story treats their love with honesty and warmth, even when it’s a little silly.

It’s cute, funny, and surprisingly deep.

If you’ve ever wanted a weird but cozy love story, this graphic novel is totally worth reading.

And yes, you’ll fall for the bear too.

Carnage by Sandra R. Neeley

Carnage

Carolena runs into the swamp to escape a horrible fate, only to find herself rescued by Carnage – a terrifying gargoyle who’s also the gentlest soul.

He watches over her, protects her, and slowly falls for her.

I loved how brave Carolena is, and Carnage, he’s gruff and fierce, but his affection is so pure.

Their bond feels primal and romantic, like they’re two lost souls finding home in each other.

It’s a mix of danger, love, and magic, and I couldn’t put it down.

If you like protective monsters and strong heroines, you’ll love this one.

Morning Glory Milking Farm by C.M. Nascosta

Morning Glory Milking scaled

Violet is broke and stuck until she lands a very unusual job milking minotaurs.

At first, it’s just a paycheck, but then she meets Rourke, a strong, quiet minotaur who sees her for who she really is.

Their connection grows slowly, sweetly, and with plenty of spice.

I thought it was funny, warm, and surprisingly romantic.

Violet is super relatable, and Rourke? Total dreamboat.

It’s a story about finding confidence, weird jobs, and unexpected love.

Honestly, I didn’t know I needed a minotaur romance until I read this and now I kind of want more.

I Married a Lizardman by Regine Abel

I Married a Lizardman by

Susan has no future on her planet, so she signs up for an arranged marriage and gets paired with Olix, a huge, grumpy lizardman.

He’s rough on the outside but surprisingly sweet underneath, and their love grows slowly as they learn to trust each other.

Susan is smart and strong, and I adored how she keeps being herself. Olix is such a softie deep down.

This one is cozy, funny, and full of heart.

It’s about finding love in the unlikeliest places, and I found myself smiling the whole way through. Their love made me so happy.

The Scorpion’s Mate by Susan Trombley

The Scorpions Mate

Claire gets kidnapped by aliens and thrown into a lab, but things change when a fierce, scorpion-like alien named Thrax claims her as his mate.

At first, she’s scared and unsure, but Thrax is protective, loyal, and deeply drawn to her.

I really liked how their bond grows from shared survival and quiet moments.

Thrax might look scary, but he’s gentle and totally devoted.

Claire’s strength shines as she finds hope in an impossible situation.

Their love is strange and beautiful, and I honestly found it so sweet.
