Summer 2025 is probably going to be the gift that keeps on giving.
While I’ve been compiling lists of books coming out across different genres this year, I’ve never been this amazed.
I love that we’re getting new books by debut authors and all that beautiful stuff, and they all sound so interesting.
They’re definitely books I would totally enjoy reading.
If you’ve been keeping up, then you probably know I’ve been providing up-to-date lists of the best new books in various genres as they come out.
If you want to check out the master list for science fiction and fantasy, be sure to check out that posts.
In this particular post, I’m listing the best science fiction and fantasy books coming out in June 2025 and I promise, they’re really good.
I can already see myself reading many of these, and honestly, that’s all I need to know.
A Dance of Lies by Brittney Arena – June 10th

I’m really looking forward to this debut fantasy romance.
It’s about Vasalie, who used to be a dancer but got trapped in the worst way – framed for murder and stuck in a dungeon for two years.
Now she’s caught in this tricky game where she has to spy for a king who isn’t exactly nice.
I particularly love that she’s no damsel in distress.
She’s a shadow in the dark, trying to survive. There’s secrets, danger, and tough choices about who to trust.
I’m so ready for this combo of magic, mystery, and heart.
The Potency of Ungovernable Impulses by Malika Older – June 10th

This one sounds super cool for mystery and sci-fi fans.
Pleiti, the detective we’ve come to know and love, has to solve a tricky case of sabotage at a space university.
I’m looking forward to the mix of serious science-y stuff with personal drama – Pleiti’s going through a rough patch with her partner, but she still steps up to help a friend.
The story feels smart but really real.
I’m so curious about what’s behind these sabotage attacks and how dangerous things will get. Can’t wait to dive into this one!
Gryphon’s Valor by Mercedes Lackey and Larry Dixon – June 21st

I’ve been excited for this one because it’s set in the Valdemar world, which is such a classic.
This book follows Kelvren, a gryphon hero who’s been through some crazy battles and now has to deal with the tricky politics on the border of the kingdom.
I love stories with gryphons – they’re majestic and fierce, and the mix of adventure and diplomacy sounds perfect.
I’m ready for all the action, bravery, and maybe some surprises from these legendary creatures.
School of Shards by Sergey and Marina Dyachenko – June 17th

This is the last book in the Vita Nostra trilogy, and I’m honestly so excited but also a little nervous.
Sasha, the main character, is trying to teach magic that changes how people speak and that’s tied to how reality works.
It sounds deep but also super intriguing, with magic, dark academia vibes, and tough choices.
Sasha has to pull together some people from her past to save the world’s magic, and I’m curious how it all ends.
If you like stories that make you think and feel, this entire series is a must.
This Princess Kills Monsters by Ry Herman – June 17th

I’m totally here for this fun and quirky fantasy.
Princess Melilot isn’t your typical princess – her magic isn’t great, she’s tired of being bossed around, and she’s got monsters and masked heroes to deal with.
Plus, a talking lion and a royal romance mess.
It pokes fun at classic fairy tales but still has a heart, and that’s what makes it sound all the more interesting.
Melilot has to save herself this time, which feels so fresh and empowering. I can’t wait to see how all her crazy adventures play out.
Realm of Thieves by Karina Halle – June 10th

Okay, thieves and dragons? Count me in.
Brynla’s story of stealing dragon eggs to survive sounds super intense and thrilling.
I love that this is about crime and also about tricky loyalties and danger that could kill you any moment.
And then there’s Lord Andor, who’s both an enemy and something more.
The sparks between them sound really exciting.
I’m so ready to get lost in this world full of magic, secrets, and fiery passion.
Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab – June 10th

V.E. Schwab never disappoints, and this one sounds so powerful.
It’s a story that jumps through time with three women in different centuries, all connected by hunger, love, rage, and life itself.
I’m drawn to how it weaves their stories together across history and combines magic with real human emotions.
Schwab’s writing always feels deep and touching, and I’m sure this will be no different.
I’m ready to feel all the feels with this one.
A Magic Deep and Drowning by Hester Fox – June 24th

Set in 1650 Holland, this book sounds like such a beautiful mix of history, magic, and romance.
Clara wants freedom from her strict family, and then she meets Maurits, who has some big secrets.
I love stories where the magic feels mysterious and tied to nature, like the sea here.
There’s a slow-building tension and a deadly struggle that sounds gripping.
I’m excited to see how Clara balances her dreams and the dangers that come with them.
The Witch Roads by Kate Elliott – June 10th

This one caught my eye because it has a deputy courier, Elen, who’s from a tough background and has to guide an arrogant prince through dangerous lands.
The mix of class struggles, haunted places, and political games sounds really gripping.
I love stories where someone underestimated shows their true strength, and Elen feels like that kind of character.
I’m ready for a wild journey full of magic, danger, and probably some big surprises.
A Far Better Thing by H.G. Parry – June 17th

I’m excited about this one because it leans into the French Revolution with s touch of fairy magic, which is such a cool combo.
Sydney Carton’s story sounds tragic but full of revenge and clever plans.
I’m curious about how the human and faerie worlds clash and what Sydney’s choice at the guillotine will mean.
It feels like a story full of tension, magic, and heartache, and I can’t wait to read it.
The Robin on the Oak Throne by K.A. Linde – June 17th

This fantasy sounds full of action and tricky choices.
Kierse McKenna is in a tight spot after breaking a Monster Treaty and now has to deal with goblins, magical deals, and probably some big consequences.
I like that she’s a strong character caught between dark and light forces, and the story promises lots of twists.
I’m really curious how Kierse’s adventure unfolds and what kind of kingdom-saving she’ll manage.
Six Wild Crowns by Holly Race – June 10th

In the kingdom of Elben, the king must marry six queens who protect the realm from ruin.
Boleyn, one of the queens, is determined to be his favorite – no matter what it takes, even war.
When she teams up with Seymour, a spy and assassin, secrets and ancient magic threaten to tear the kingdom apart.
This epic fantasy has dragons, court intrigue, and sapphic romance, which sounds like the perfect mix of power struggles and heartfelt connections.
Also, this is clearly a nod to Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, and those of us who see EVERY LITTLE THING as sapphic cannon.
I’m definitely marking this one down for my summer reading list!
