I don’t usually review novellas in full posts, but this sweet Christmas one stood out so much that I feel like it deserves its own shout-out.

I’ve read my fair share of books with big, muscular male leads, but this one? It had me a little nervous.

The way Luke was described was definitely unique, and honestly, I wasn’t sure if it was going a bit too far. I won’t spoil anything, but let’s just say Tessa Bailey went all in on describing him, and I’m still not ure if it was too much.

Still, I get that everyone has their own style, and hey, it worked out in the end — Luke and Evie are the most wonderful pairing

That being said, he’s the best teddy bear ever! Despite being huge and intimidating, he’s super soft with her. He may not have a lot of friends and feels lonely, but he’s all heart.

The book kicks off with Luke trying on jeans in a store and ripping them because, well, he’s just that big. Then, somehow, Evie ends up volunteering to help him out, and he makes a comment that makes her think he might not be interested. She takes it as a challenge, though, and things start to get interesting.

Meanwhile, he’s low-key freaking out about the interaction they just had. Turns out, she may or may not have a husband, and he’s a little discouraged by that because, even though he’s been noticing her for months, he hadn’t realized she had a kid (and possibly a partner).

So, he’s immediately turned off romantically. But, of course, those thoughts of him wanting her don’t just vanish.

Later on, she shows up to give him some new pants she made for him, and somehow, their romance takes off from there. It’s not all sweetness – there’s definitely an electric charge between them right from the start. While he knows exactly what he wants, she’s a little more skittish.

This novella by Tessa Bailey is one of those books where the couple’s chemistry is undeniable, but it’s done in a way that feels real and not rushed.

The thing I loved the most was how he respected her space and gave her the time to think about what she wanted. Even though he wasn’t totally deterred, he didn’t push her, and I really appreciated that.

I think this novella is part of a series of short books, so if you’re into single-parent romances that will make you smile and you’d like to check out a spicy christmas book, definitely give this one a try!

It’s cute, sweet, and a little charged – just the right kind of read to put a smile on your face.
