Book Review: Vow of Deception by Rina Kent

I loved this amazing book so much! This is the first book in the Deception Trilogy and my very first book by Rina Kent – Here are my full thoughts.

This might sound a little strange because everyone went through that phase where they were all reading this book, but this is genuinely a new-to-me author, and I’m blown away.

I love the writing, and I feel like it’s conversational and simple while still having that necessary depth.

It was very easy for me to follow, and I was very much immersed in the book—if that isn’t obvious by the fact that I essentially read all the books in the trilogy in three days.

Anyway, I will say that, for some reason, when it comes to Mafia romance books, the Bratva always feels very formidable to me compared to maybe the Triad, Yakuza, or other Mafia-like organizations.

Vow of deception

I don’t know—there’s just something about Russians that absolutely gets my engine revving and makes me feel a little scared and a little astonished.

I feel like the authors who write Bratva Mafia romance books don’t hold back on making the male leads—or whoever is involved in the Bratva—very cruel and bloodthirsty, and that’s exactly what happens in this book.

Because Adrian isn’t your typical MC—he is very much the definition of an immorally gray male lead who will do anything, and I really mean anything, for his girl. He proves this over and over again from start to finish in the book.

When I picked this book up, I did not expect it to have this level of psychological suspense, but I will tell you that I absolutely ate it up.

I love it when romance novels have some meat to them, and that’s what we get here because I was genuinely freaked out in some scenes and that’s not an easy feat, especially when I am in my romance zone.

I won’t lie, this felt very much like a domestic thriller book, and with that ending, it ends on a cliffhanger.

I will tell you that I feel like this is one of the best romantic suspense books I have read in a hot minute, and I will recommend it to anyone who wants to read it.

This book is perfect if you want a very steamy and erotic BDSM romance novel that will keep you up all night.

Winter and Adrian made me lose my sleep, and that’s really all you need to know.
