25 Popular BookTok Books Worth Reading Again and Again

BookTok started out small as just people sharing books they loved, and somehow it exploded into this massive part of reading culture. 

It’s changed the way books are discovered and even how they’re published. 

Back in the early days, it felt real: people posting about what they actually enjoyed, swapping recommendations, discovering hidden gems. 

Now it feels more like a marketing hamster wheel, with books hyped for clicks, authors chasing trends, and readers skipping parts just to get to the next viral moment. 

I’ve mostly stayed away from BookTok recs because so many of them are repetitive or feel like they’re being pushed just because they’re popular.

Honestly, it is a little scary for the literary world when people write for trends instead of stories, or readers judge a book by a snippet instead of the whole thing.

That said, there are still some BookTok books that are genuinely worth reading. 

I’m talking about the ones that made me stop scrolling and actually enjoy the book. 

Those are the ones I’ve collected here and I can’t help but wish we could go back to the days when book recommendations felt more organic.

Immaculate Conception by Ling Ling Huang

This book starts with a deep, intense friendship between Enka and Mathilde, and I loved how real and messy their bond felt. 

Enka meets Mathilde in art school and is completely drawn to her talent and her mind. 

You can feel how much Enka wants to belong, to be special, and to matter in a space that feels harsh and competitive. 

When Mathilde starts to pull away as she becomes famous, my heart honestly ached for Enka. That fear of being left behind felt so real to me.

The idea of using technology to enter someone’s mind is fascinating and also terrifying. 

I kept thinking about how far love can push us and when love turns into control. 

This book made me uncomfortable in a thoughtful way, and I loved that. 

It’s soft, sharp, emotional, and a little haunting. I couldn’t stop thinking about it after finishing, and I really admire how bold and different it is.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson

This one is SUCH a fun and addictive read, even as someone who’s slowly easing my way back into thrillers. I flew through it because I needed answers immediately. 

Pippa is one of those characters I instantly liked because she’s curious, smart, and brave in a very real way. She doesn’t accept things just because everyone else does, and I really admire that about her. 

The whole town believes the case is solved, but Pip decides to dig deeper, and that’s when things get scary.

It’s essentially a true crime podcast mixed with a diary, so every clue made me gasp, and every secret made me trust no one. I kept changing my mind about who was guilty. 

It’s tense but still easy to read, and it made me feel clever while reading it. 

If you love mysteries that keep your heart racing but still feel fun and emotional, this one truly deserves its BookTok fame.

Say You’ll Remember Me by Abby Jimenez

Abby Jimenez just gets love, and I adore how she writes romance that feels warm and human. 

Samantha and Xavier meet and have this one perfect, magical date that honestly made me smile the whole time. Xavier is charming, awkward, kind, and flawed, which made me love him even more.

What really stayed with me is how real Samantha’s struggles feel. Life doesn’t pause just because love shows up, and this book understands that deeply. 

I loved how emotional this story was without being heavy. It’s about timing, memory, and choosing love even when it’s scary. 

I finished it feeling comforted, like I’d been hugged by the story.

The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig

Sybil is such a quiet but strong character, and I loved how tired she is of carrying the weight of other people’s futures. 

The idea of dreams as a burden really stuck with me. The cathedral setting is moody and rich, and I could picture everything so clearly.

Then comes Rodrick, the knight, and I loved their dynamic. He challenges Sybil, questions the gods, and doesn’t treat her like something fragile. 

Their slow trust and sharp conversations made me smile so much. 

This book feels like faith clashing with doubt, destiny clashing with choice. 

I loved how eerie and emotional it was without being confusing. 

If you love fantasy that feels thoughtful, romantic, and a little gothic, this one is such a treat.

Babel by R.F. Kuang

This book is powerful, emotional, and honestly unforgettable. It made me pause so many times just to think. 

Robin’s story broke my heart because he’s constantly caught between worlds – between language, culture, and loyalty.

It’s heavy, yes, but so worth reading. I truly admire how fearless this story is.

Lenore’s life feels empty and controlled, and I really felt her quiet sadness at the start. 

When Carmilla enters her world, everything shifts. 

Carmilla is mysterious, strange, and full of life, and I loved how she awakens something deep inside Lenore.

The story is full of hunger – not just for food, but for love, freedom, and desire. I really appreciated how this book talks about women wanting more in a world that tries to silence them. 

It’s eerie and slow, but in a way that pulls you in. I found it haunting and bold, and I loved how it reimagines an old story through a feminist lens. 

It stayed with me long after I finished reading.

I’m Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

Jennette’s voice is so clear and brave, and I admired her so much while reading.

It’s painful to see how much pressure she was under as a child, especially from the person who was supposed to protect her. 

Some parts were really hard to read, but they felt important.

I loved how raw and truthful this memoir is. Jennette doesn’t try to sugarcoat her experiences, and that honesty made the book incredibly powerful.

If He Had Been With Me by Laura Nowlin

This book completely broke my heart, and I mean that in the most tender way. 

From the very first page, you know something terrible has happened, and that feeling follows you the entire time. 

Autumn and Finn’s story is soft, slow, and full of moments that feel so real it hurts.

I loved how this book captures quiet love – the kind that grows over years and lives in small glances and missed chances. 

It made me think about timing and how life doesn’t always give us second chances. 

I cried, I paused, and I just sat with my feelings after finishing. This is one of those books that sneaks up on you emotionally. 

If you love bittersweet stories that leave a mark on your heart, this one is unforgettable. 

BookTok is full of hype, but these picks truly deliver.
