I love that the LGBTQ+ community is getting a whole lot of much-needed visibility in literature and these amazing M/M historical fantasy novels are just the thing if you’ve got an itch that needs to be scratched. 

So, get ready because I promise that while these books are far from time travel pieces, they’ll definitely transport you to a completely different time and place. 

There’s everything from fast-paced steampunk books to sweet romance that will torture you with unrequited love and secret crushes. 

1. A Marvelous Light by Freya Marske

Set in an alternative Edwardian England, this magical M/M comedy follows a baronet appointed as a liaison to a secret magical society. 

Together with a hostile counterpart, they uncover a plot threatening all magicians in the British Isles.

2. Timekeeper by Tara Sim

In an alternate Victorian world controlled by clock towers, this steampunk M/M historical fantasy story revolves around a prodigy mechanic’s quest to rescue his father, mysterious bombings jeopardizing England, and a romance that challenges the foundations of time.

3. Deosil by Jordan L. Hawk
