I’ve always been fascinated by royalty, especially because I live in a country that was formed less than 100 years ago and never had a central monarchical system.
So, I started reading and watching lots of content about the British, Japanese, Spanish, Danish, and other royal families, and I just couldn’t get enough.
As someone who loves romance books, it’s no surprise that my fascination with royalty spills into my reading list.
There are certain times of the year when I get into a royal romance mood, and I’ve discovered that some of the sweetest romance books are the ones where one of the characters is a part of royalty.
If you were anywhere on Earth last year with a mobile phone, you probably heard about Red, White & Royal Blue when it was released.
This movie, based on one of the most popular MM romance books, features a British prince falling in love with the son of the American president and I absolutely loved every part of the book and the movie.
In this post, I’m going to share some of the best royal-themed books everyone needs to read.
1. Claimed Royalty by Betty Shreffler

In a world where a queen’s purity is everything, Fiora faces impossible choices.
Tradition says she must find a king among powerful suitors, but her heart belongs to someone forbidden.
Each decision risks either her reign or her life.

You’ll feel every single thing as Fiora fights for her heart and survival.
2. Royally Rearranged by Emma St. Clair

This sweet, funny, and swoony royal rom-com is a delight from start to finish.
3. Last Duke Standing by Julia London

Princess Justine is in England to learn how to rule and maybe find a husband fit for a queen.
But as she wades through potential suitors, her charming escort, William, catches her off guard.
He’s not exactly royal husband material, but sometimes love doesn’t follow the rules.
A sweet and sparkling tale of love, friendship, and finding what you truly want, this is a book I personally enjoyed a whole lot and I’ll always recommend.
4. Three Dark Crowns by Kendare Blake

Triplet queens are born to rule, but only one can claim the throne.
Mirabella controls the elements, Katharine masters poisons, and Arsinoe is said to command nature.
On their sixteenth birthday, their deadly battle begins.
It’s dark, intense, and impossible to put down.
If you love sibling rivalries with life-or-death stakes, this one’s a must-read.
5. Blood Heir by Amélie Wen Zhao

Ana is a princess with a deadly secret – she can control blood.
When she’s framed for her father’s murder, she teams up with a cunning crime lord to find the real killer.

This book is all about power, survival, and one fierce heroine who refuses to give up.
6. The Royal Rogue by Karina Halle

This one’s a steamy and heartfelt romance all about finding love where you least expect it.
7. Crown Duel by Sherwood Smith

Little does she know, he’s actually Prince Christian of Wales.

10. Secret Royal & The Rodeo Cowboy by Jewel Allen

12. Ruthless Reign by Aleatha Romig

Roman is sworn to protect Princess Lucille, but falling for her is strictly forbidden.
This story is full of secrets, intrigue, and tension, with plenty of twists to keep you guessing.
It’s a darker, suspenseful take on royal romance, but it’s still very worth reading.
13. Once Upon a Royal Summer by Teri Wilson
